Yesterday new Member for Redlands, Matt McEachan MP, delivered his maiden speech in the 55th Queensland Parliament.
Member for Redlands, Matt McEachan MP, said it was great honour to deliver his maiden speech and an even greater honour to represent the people of Redlands.
“During my speech I highlighted how special Redlands is, with its unique natural environment and sense of community.
“I also focused on our growing population and our key infrastructure needs including upgrading arterial roads,” Mr. McEachan said.
Mr. McEachan urged the Labor Government to honour the LNP commitment made prior to the state election to upgrade Cleveland-Redland Bay Road and Mt Cotton Road.
“I wanted to highlight the challenges facing our bay island communities, most particularly the mainland parking and access issues.
“I look forward to working with Mayor Karen Williams and the council to address these issues,” Mr. McEachan said.
Mr. McEachan also spoke of how his personal childhood experiences will influence his work on the Communities, Disability Services and Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Committee and finished the speech by thanking those who had supported him.
“I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to represent the people of Redlands without the support of my family, especially my mother and my daughter.”
