    Member for Redlands, Matt McEachan joined in a volunteer marine rescue patrol in Moreton Bay over the weekend.

    Member for Redlands, Matt McEachan said it was a great opportunity to join in a VMR patrol and see for himself what VMR Victoria Point does in protecting Moreton Bay.

    It was great to join our hardworking volunteers and even assist in rescuing some of our great Moreton Bay wildlife,” Mr McEachan said.

    While we were out and about on the bay, the local Straddie Ferries skipper spotted a green sea turtle in distress and luckily the crew and I were able to get it into the boat and hand it over to National Park rangers for treatment.”

    Mr McEachan said he was planning on joining VMR Victoria Point as a volunteer, and he encouraged Redlanders to get involved as a volunteers themselves.

    The crew at VMR Victoria Point are always looking for more helping hands on deck and on land, so I encourage keen boaties to consider getting involved,Mr McEachan said.
